Weigh In week 16
Whoo Hoo!!! Down 2 more pounds!!!
I've changed my ticker to reflect my total loss and goal.
I've drastically increased my fat and protein and dropped my carbs over the past few weeks and have found my weight going down again!!
I've been recording in Fitday and taking all my supplements. I've been concentrating on getting the protein up and the carbs down.
As you can see, my protein and fat intake is high. Much higher than the "experts" recommend, and that's just fine with me. I've been going for 95g protein daily and got at least that except for yesterday (Saturday). I've not been looking for added fat, but have been adding cream to any shakes I have and I've not been avoiding it!!
And, as you can also see, I've been meeting and exceeding the recommended levels of vitamins and nutrients. In fact, the only thing I'm "deficient" in is carbs and fiber! And sodium, which is getting to be almost as "bad" as saturated fat. I don't add salt to many foods, but this isn't because I think it's bad for me, but because I often forget to!
I've been trying to get moving more, but I'm still not being too consistent with exercise. I've now bought a Tai Chi DVD and am going to try it for a while. It's for people with arthritis and stiff joints, so I figure it can't hurt!
I've also been doing some weights, but until I get my bench out of my son's room and into a more accessible area, this will be spotty.

Wow, sounds like the low-carb approach is really working for you. Congratulations on the weight loss!
Crabby thanks for your support!!
Way to go Cindy!!All that weight gone for ever! You must be floating on air, I know I was! I will do a happy dance for you!!! How about some before and after pics?
Thanks Tess!! Oh yea, I'm happy!! Been doing the happy dance all over the place! LOL
I'll post some before and during pics soon.
Congrats Cindy! You are doing so well! Forget what the "experts" say. If adding more fat and protein is working for you, then keep it up! Can't wait to see progress pics!
Thanks Sparky's Girl!! I stopped listening to the "experts" a while ago! They can't see the writing on the wall and can't put 2 and 2 together and get 4!!
I'll stick with MY experts and listening to my own body!
Cindy---you are doing marvelous----and oh what a MOTIVATION---glad to see the fat in your eating plan---as women we must have it.
But I particularly like what you put in that last comment---listen to your own body. the science of nutrition is behind you even if ---nutritionists, dietitians aren't---and they aren't scientists
Cindy,
You go girl! Wow! You're doing great! I love the charts you got here! I'm inspired!
Wish I could back off on the protein myself, but dang, me always hungry! LOL
Adam
Bama...you are so right! Nutritionist and Dieticians just parrot what they're taught, and they're taught what the medical-pharma industry dictates.
Adam....why would you want to cut back on protein? Protein good!! I know people, men mostly, that take in 200-300 grams and even more! Protein, and fat, but mainly protein, helps full you up and keep you full longer! Eat up!
Cindy,
I'd love to talk protein and vitamins with you if you're up for it! We should compare what we're each downing every day! LOL
Adam
Adam...I'm certainly no expert, but I'd love to discuss things with you!!
If you'd like, send me another comment, mark it Private, and include your email address.
Doing the happy dance to celebrate with you!!!! :)
Thanks LadyRose!!! Still dancing here!
Yay good stuff Cindy. For me I find fat more satiating then even protein. If I eat lean protein I tend to get hungry or snacky and cravings. Same with salads, I do much better with fibrous veggies.
I agree Sherry....and the protein goes down easier with fat. If I try to eat high protein with low fat i get sick to my stomach....but add a little fat and I can eat much more.
Congrats! Low carb works wonders for me too. My fat's generally between 60-70% (as a percentage of calories, that is...I notice yours is stated as a percentage DV) but lately I've been more about protein, for some reason. Been eating more game meat, maybe it's more filling?
How did you export your Fitday info?? Very cool. I love Fitday! Appeals to my inner geek :)
Tracy...thanks for your comment.
I use FitDayPC, which I purchased over a year ago. There are lots of reports you can get and these charts are actually screen shots. I did check and for the most part my fat is about 65%, protein another 28-30% and carbs around 5-7%.
I've really been working at keeping the carbs low and protein up. Fat does along with the protein, and I do add some in my shakes.
Good work! The weight is just falling off. :)
I'm on a low-fat diet right now, but instead of making up the extra calories in carbs, I'm making it up in protein and I shoot for no less than 100g a day. Some days it can be as high as 140g. I try to keep my carbs under 100g (net).
Thanks Victoria!! Looks like you're doing good too!!
way to go Cindy! Love the charts, will have to explore that.
Shakespeare Fat
Hi Shakespeare! Nice to see you on my blog!!
I'll be posting more charts later today for my latest weigh in.
Yoga is a good thing to try too for sore joints.
Lyn....I do some yoga stretching...and yes, it's done a lot for me with range of motion!
